1 Dear Diary, This is my 5th day in Versailles, but I am still very confused about where I should go. This place is just too big, I think its several times bigger than my father's farm. I have a sore leg from walking around the palace, going to the bathroom probably takes about 30 minutes. Anyways, my daily routine is uniformed, and I have to follow the schedule exactly or else I get in a big trouble. Every morning I wake up at 7 o clock, and start preparing for the royal's breakfast. The royal family does not look very clean as I thought in the morning time, their hair is messed up and their breath smells a lot. Even though it looks funny, I should never laugh or giggle. After the breakfast, I have a little bit of free time, I get to taste some of the food that the main chef makes, and I also can hangout with other servants in Versailles. Theres a girl who works as an assistant, I think she is around my age. we usually tour around the palace together and find new places to explore. During lunch, it is not that busy. The royal family usually eat chocolate and skips lunch. But at dinner, it gets crazy, we make meals for all of the family members and all their visitors, starting from appetizer, wines, main dishes, and dessert. The main chef usually gets praised by the royal family or their visitors for making excellent dishes, although some great ones are done by his assistants. After the hazardous dinner we all get exhausted. I run around and try all the food served to the royal family, however all other servants seemed they had enough of it. I am the waiter who only serves meal, so I don't make any dishes or food, however my job is also not that easy. I have to be very polite and respectful in front of the royal family, which means not too much talking or moving around. Everyone in the palace should be elegant and royal, no matter where the person came from. I have to carry the dishes in a certain way so that my finger or any part of the body does not touch the food. I have to clean my self every day, so the royal family does not get disgusted while eating. I have to cut my hair short so it does not fall onto one of the dishes. It is very complicated and hard, my little brother is hardly keeping it up. My arms will tore off in few days, It hurts a lot but I have to carry on for living.
2 Dear Diary, Something is going on in the palace. Everyone is quiet and the royal family is enervated. I can't find any smiles or happiness from them anymore, they all became speechless. I bet something is happening around France. Breakfast was unlike usual, the royal family did not eat much, and they did not communicate at all. They skipped lunch and even at dinner, nobody was energized or excited. They all ate with silentness. I have heard about few rumors that the king has lost control of France. The 3rd estates has stormed the Bastile and all the prisoners were free. If these rumors are all true, then I should not stay here anymore. Some has already left Versailles, our main chef and many other servant members left the palace last night. We all have to do more work than usual. The main chef's work is now passed down to his assistants, Aimee is having a hard time cooking main dishes for the Royal family, she told me that it was her first time to make a main dish by her self. The royal family did not complain or scold them, but they also did not praise anyone. Aimee told me about many events that happened outside of Versailles in pass few days. Estates met separately to have consultations, the third estate has announced to join them or they will just move along. Some clergymen has joined them and they formed a national assembly. Then there was a lock out, which I believe was a dumb action. The national Assembly carried on at the tennis court. All confusing but I am kind of agreeing to the rumors than the king has lost his power. Aimee is disagreeing with me, shes younger but she is more thoughtful than me. She said that although the king is having a hard time controlling France, soon everything will comeback to usual because many people out there are scared and feared about the violence they have committed. She believes that King louis will make a smart action to put off the fire, and calm the anger of poor citizens. I guess it depends on the King now, whether he makes a smart and right action to deal with the wrath, or be helpless and do nothing just like what he is acting right now. I am still not sure whether I should leave this place or not, the rumors seems to be true but there are also people who claims that everything will come back to normal. I think I should stay for few more days and discuss more with Aimee to whether we should go back to our home or not. 20th July 1789

Dear diary, France is in a chaos, everything is getting messed up. I have left Versailles months ago, and I heard that the royal family was arrested and guillotined at the public. The last days at Versailles was more chaotic, I didn't get paid and more people left Versailles. Aimee did most of the cooking, and I had to do all the serving. The king didn't really care what kind of food was served. Aimee told me that staying in Versailles would be much more safe because of the rebellions and violences happening out side. I agreed with her and served the royal family. At last when everybody but us left the palace, we also managed to leave Versailles. Obviously we worked for nothing, the royal family didn't give a slice of bread. I still remember when Aimee said soon everything will come back to normal, and the riots will calm down their anger. She was wrong, the king did not make a good decision to calm the angry citizens, and France fell into a complete anarchy. I should have been more smart and left Versailles earlier. Right now I am hiding at my father's basement with my brother. We have heard about the "Mass levy", and we know that all unmarried men have to join the war. My father hid me and my brother so that we can get exempted from joining the war. My father lied to the convention by saying my brother died during the rebellion, and I have already married. However they don't seem to believe us, and by next week they wanted to see me and my wife. I am planning to get married with a girl in the town tomorrow( I can't remember her name), so that Our family does not get guillotined for deceiving the convention. I don't really want to get married, and if I do I would marry with someone else. The situation we are in right now is really bad, so I can't complain that much. ( I would rather marry with Aimee, shes much cuter) Anyways, this is not that important right now, I first have to survive. Father informed us that many people in the town were arrested and were headed for being innocent, I guess we have to be more careful and watch our mouth. I don't know how this reign of terror will end, I hope everything comes back, and I can have an ordinary life. And I hope Aimee is safe, I think I should send a letter to her so I know she's fine. Can't believe I'm marrying tomorrow.. with a girl I don't even know.
